About the Department
Advancing zoological sciences in Nigeria and beyond through teaching, research, and public engagement.
Who We Are
The Department of Zoology at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, advances knowledge of animals and their environments through research, teaching, and public engagement. Our staff and students work across Nigeria on biodiversity conservation, vector‑borne diseases, aquaculture, and environmental health. We combine field ecology and laboratory science with community outreach and museum education to solve real‑world challenges and train the next generation of zoologists.
Every day, I am reminded of the privilege it is to lead this department. Our students bring curiosity and energy, while our staff bring depth of knowledge and commitment. Together, we advance the frontiers of zoological research and education.
